Halwa puri

Halwa puri is the most popular breakfast of Pakistan and India. People of asia really like halwa puri. They eat this delicious dish on weekends and on special occasion, specially when weather is cold or its raining. It is highly selling dish in many cities of Pakistan. In every hotel and resturant we find halwa puri in breakfast Menu it is such an delicious dish no one can say no for this breakfast but one can stay away if they are health conscious because it is full of calories.

Halwa is a sweet dessert made of semolina, sugar and nuts and puri is made of tortilla dough and deep fry in oil.

INGREDIENTS FOR PURI:

  • ALL PURPOSE FLOUR ( 2 CUP)
  • OIL (1 TBSP)
  • SALT ( 1 PINCH)
  • SEMOLINA (1 TBSP)
  • WATER

INGREDIENTS FOR HALWA:

  • SEMOLINA ( 1 CUP)
  • SUGAR (1 CUP)
  • OIL ( 1/4 CUP)
  • CARDAMOM ( ONLY 4)
  • NUTS ( ACCORDING TO YOUR CHOICE )

How to

  1. Take a bowl add flour, salt and oil and together them with hands than add water slowly and knead until it become a soft dough. Cover the dough and rest it for 10 to 15 mins.
  2. Divid the dough in small balls and roll the dough with help roller pin into small circular shape. The thickness of puri should be 1.5 mm.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan.
  4. Drop one puri in oil and fry it on both sides until its change color into light golden.
  5. Take out and set a side.
  6. Take another pan for halwa.
  7. Add oil cardamoms and sugar cook until sugar dissolves in oil and change color into brown than add semolina and cook them together that semolina take colour of sugar well.
  8. Dish out and serve it with puri

  3. Yumm…one of my favourite dish. However I like aam ka achaar along with it- a little bit of spices to add to the flavours!
